Greetings, On behalf of Pack 737, we welcome you and your son to Cub Scouting. We have had some great times over the past few years and this year we plan to continue the excitement. Our boys will gain valuable life skills through scouting activities that are geared to their grade-level and we will all have the opportunity to experience new adventures and forge new friendships. The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910 and its mission is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. In 1930, the Cub Scout program was introduced to extend the scouting experience for younger boys. Cub Scouts is designed to be a doorway to Boy Scouting and has a code of ethics, a structured organization, and loads of materials and resources to maintain an interesting, exciting, stimulating and fun program. Scouting:
Research has shown that kids whose families are involved with their growing process advance further than those left on their own. Cub Scouts gives parents a fantastic tool to help the boys' development through the scouting handbooks that provides numerous activities for the entire family. When your son is home on a rainy day or you are looking for something to do, get the handbook and see what he can work on. The pack is run by parent volunteers and we need your help. We realize that today's complex lifestyles don't provide us with the time we all need, but the knowledge, experience and values your son will take from scouting are priceless. An extra hour or two a month will ensure that we continue to deliver a quality program for our boys. We need parents to serve as Den leaders, and at various levels of our pack committee. Thank you for helping your son be involved in scouting. Together we can make a difference! KC Lesch Cubmaster |
